Untuk pertama kalinya Honda memperkenalkan CBR1000RR dalam dua versi untuk tahun 2014,yaitu versi standart dan CBR1000RR SP,saat ini versi SP sedang di pamerkan di ajang EICMA Milan.
Penambahan nama SP mungkin berarti Specials Product CMIIW.
Dan memang jika di amati penampilan CBR1000RR SP ini sangat terlihat bedanya dengan versi standart. Perbedaan itu antara lain adalah
Jok tunggal,sangat identik dengan motor yang di gunakan untuk track only ,suspensi merk Ohlins fully-adjustable baik depan atau belakang,rem brembo monobloc, slipper clutch dan ban super-sticky Pirelli Diablo Supercorsa SP (depan 120/70-ZR17 & belakang 190/50ZR17).
Mesinnya masih sama dengan CBR 1000 RR versi standar,hanya untuk versi SP ini mempunyai perbedaan pada pistonnya yang lebih ringan,serta port inlet dan exhaust di poles ulang.
Sedikit “colekan” mesin di atas menghasilkan peningkatan peak power hingga 178,36 HP (133 kW) pada 12,250 rpm dan torsi maksimum 114 Nm (85 lb-ft) pada 10,500 rpm. Power dan torsinya meningkat sekitar 3 HP dan 2 Nm dibanding CBR1000RR versi sebelumnya – 175,67 HP (131 KW) pada 12,000 rpm dan 112 Nm (82,60 lb-ft) pada 8,500 rpm.
Slipper clutch nya membuat pemindahan gigi turun ( down shift ) menjadi lebih halus di banding CBR1000RR Standart, walaupun tak sehalus seamless gearbox honda RCV 😉
